I love all the why didn't you get a 172 instead comments :) god forbid he might have preffered the way the 182 drove and wanted that colour and those wheels.
Thats like saying I paid 3 grand more for a 182 because I didn't like the 172 alloys, rather than just change them!
Get your new bumper...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Aye but this is for my 172 - but I fancy using the willy tank cap so I can fit my hill power covers, power steerings the same fitment but the 172s cap is different - if they both have the same pressure rating then I'll use the willy cap
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
^^^ dude I just spent a whole hour readong f0xy.net - b*****d!
Didn't realise how much s**t its gone through!
How much was the new 172 coolant tank by the way? did the willy cap screw straight on? are they the same pressures?
I don't get all the abuse actually reading through again!?
People stick ph2 172 bumpers on their ph1's, people stick 182 bumpers on 172/cups - why the stress out?!!
Maybe he wanting the 182 suspension, the look of the alloys, the fact they're newer but didn't like the exhaust sticking out the...
I think it will be fine with a 172 bumper and will do what HE wants it do on HIS car.
Should have shown results with the bumper then you might not have got as much stick but I applaud your idea and going with this to be honest.
I'd rather keep my 172 and pay someone to teach me how to drive it properly, I doubt I have the balls to reach the outer limits of both cars!
I've had a Williams and a 16v and I preffered the williams however...
Did I exploit it to its true potential? No
Did I exploit the extra handling...
its amazing what a set of bumpers do to a car, that 172 looks underwheeled and yet only the bumpers differ from a phase 1!
Curse the 16s for not being widely available ;)
I know there would be a lot of 'are you mad' posts from trophy owners - I'm the same when someone says you can lower a 1.2 mk1 and it handles better than a williams
Properly set up coilovers on a normal 172/182 must be bloody good though.
Will still look like a 4x4 down 30mm and 16" wheels...
Also if you put 16" on a 1.2 you'll kill and performance the little 1.2 has.
15" look spot on a mk1 and I'd be looking at more like 60mm on the front and torsion bar slightly higher on the back to match.
