Yeah the standard airbox the CAF that comes out of the side of the airbox is the one you want to take off.
Seach "accoust valve removal" and it should bring up a link from cliotrophy.net
Yeah there is a guide in the guide section on how to do it, takes 15mins or so.
You'l get a bit of induction roar from taking the CAF out aswell. :)
Let us know what you think.
Cos once you remove the accoustic valve and that CAF pipe you have the coolest part of the engine flowing air straight into the air box from down in the wheel arch.
Its just what they reckon gives the best gain other than a maxogen from what they have tested??? Mine def pulls harder but then...
At £300 the maxogens are quite expensive but the next best thing I found is the standard air box with uprated panel filter, removed the accoustic valve and the top CAF, JMS Tuning have been doing development on this issue and this seems to get the better gains over the induction kits (apart from...
The cold air feed that comes out of the side of the 172/182 airbox conects to the accoustic valve down in the wheel arch, take that all out and its much less restrictive!!
True, mine def feels better the way the JMS boys suggested, you even get a little induction roar when you hit cam at 5k. Couple it with the Group N remap and matched inlets and it really goes.
Standard box, uprated panel filter and lose the accoustic valve and top CAF, speaking to the JMS boys the other day when I was down there and thats the best gain they have had over aftermarket IKs!!!
It is amazing the lengths some people go to and I guess if its your job then you have to but wow I thought I was OCD on detailing my car.
Now i feel normal :) lol
Yeah thats the guy, dont get me wrong the car is awsome but surely he cant do much else than dote on his motor!!!!
The engine bay is a master piece, must have cost him a fortune!!!
Just had a look on here and more specifically on the project section, I cant believe the lengths some people go to with detailing, I wish I had that much dedication!!! lol
One guy was ready to take back his brand new Astra VXR just because it had a few overspill spots when he picked it, its a...
Dont fancy painting the brace to be honest cos once the paint gets hot under the bonnet all the fluff from bonet lid sticks to it!!!
I am thinking about doing the cover a different colour though maybe.
The pug splitter was £35 direct from a dealer, just walked in and bought one last week...
The pug ones fit quite well, its all about taking your time and doing it bit by bit so it follows the shape of the bumper properly!!
And about 10 self tapping screws!!!
