You can buy the ball joint separate from RSport iirc, you don’t have to go to the expense of buying the whole knuckle like some garages advise.

For what you’d get for the tyres, I’d just keep them - it’s always handy having a few spare alloys with tyres in the garage.

Definitely not a weak engine. As said above, if it’s been done properly, then they’re stronger than most in that range.

Its been a while, but I believe they’re a 5 speed F28 or something. Not the 6 speed M32. Nice old school long gears.

Definitely sounds belt related - both belts too, as the water pump is on the timing belt and the power steering is on the aux belt. Does the car still run/idle?

What are the cylinder bores like?

If it’s returned to normal after changing fuel and there’s no faults showing, I wouldn’t worry about it.

It’s not worth a 3 hour drive there IMO.

@Andysmithy1 if your planning on getting another one, keep any key parts for yourself IMO. It’s always handy to have spares knocking around. Especially things like sensors etc off the broken engine.

Brilliant cars, I’ve got such a love for ph1’s - loved mine back in the day. It is a shame you’ve sold the OZ wheels though, they’re so hard to come by a full set now, would have been worth keeping for the future.
