So, I’ve changed the battery and I still get a little ‘battery/STOP’ light coming on, just first thing in the morning, when the cars been stood. The light flickers on and off though, it’s not constant.. so obviously that tells me there’s a loose wire somewhere? But I’m confused because it goes...

Cheers for the offer buddy, but I’ll just get new ones for the price of them. I’ve been too lazy to buy them, I’ve still got my new battery in the boot of the car ? I’m just driving around with it in the boot!

    Austin’s Clio dci 100 Initiale

Yup, it needs a couple of bits, which I’ve priced up..£88; discs/pads and 2 front springs ? So I could do the whole car for less than a cambelt change cost

    Austin’s Clio dci 100 Initiale

Yup, it’s all gates items - and that’s everything replaced, tensioner etc. I’m still tempted to just book a long weekend off work and give it a go. £370 is half the value of the car.. ?

I’ve just had a quote of £370 to change the belt/water pump/ alternator belt and coolant. Not bad for a guaranteed job? ??‍♂️

    What are these for?

Aren’t they strengthening plates for the shell? Theyre around the seatbelt holes, to make it stronger.

Just stick a blank on IMO. The car will puff a little more, but it’ll run better.

That’s strange, the annoying thing is - anything 2nd hand is hard to judge, it could well still be the issue. I’d probably take it back off, take the live off the battery too, give the EGR a good soak in petrol and make sure the valve is free moving, then stick a blank on and plug it back in.

    Austin’s Clio dci 100 Initiale

Surprised you didn’t just put a blank on the EGR. That’s what I’ll be doing. I wouldn’t worry about the car smoking a bit either, they are getting on a little now. How far have you been driving the car? If it’s short drives then it will get quite sooty. I put some fuel additive in every now...

Nope ???? I haven’t got one, but it’s peace of mind for me by changing it anyway. That’s a good price! I REALLY want to do the belt myself, but im still considering giving it to my mates garage to do, again, for peace of mind ? I’d have a go if it was a project car etc - but I’ve not tackled...

Just a small update. After securing the battery properly, I’ve still been having the battery light come on for the first 10-15 seconds on a cold start, after being sat overnight. So I think the battery is dropping below a certain charge. As the light soon goes out and doesn’t re-appear for...

I think it would be a good idea to post this in the Wales section also, if it gets numbers up.

Brilliant news! You should write up a quick guide on swapping the barrels etc.

    Road Trip/Tour 2019!

I see what you mean now! ? I don’t think you can go far wrong with just punching Brecon into the sat-nav from Snowdonia and go whichever way that takes you. The main roads down from north wales are prettt epic.

    Road Trip/Tour 2019!

I know I sound like a party pooper, but I think not having a defined route planned will put people off parting with money booking hotels and making the long trip. I don’t live in Wales full time anymore, but I’ll put my name down as attending the Brecon part, if I’m back that way. I only...

@Brigsy, mine came out easy too. Worth doing. Mine is back to starting on the button now. Just soak them the day before with wd40 and get the engine warm before attempting to take them out.

    Engine Flush

Also, If it’s using a bit of oil, have you thought of putting some thicker competition oil in? Like a 10/50 or something. Obviously it depends on what you mean ‘using oil’ if it’s just 500ml or something between oil changes, then I wouldn’t worry.

Someone filmed a little clip of the 197.net drive over the Brecon Beacons a few years ago. Worth a little watch for you to have an idea of the roads.

    Engine Flush

Its not something I would do personally, I’ve heard of some stories of it stripping seals etc, if it’s too ‘abrasive’ Just use good oil with protection properties and good fuel (if you can) and just drive it.

    Road Trip/Tour 2019!

Point A is a central point with restaurants/fuel/hotel/McDonald’s etc. But if you’re coming from North Wales, a hotel in Brecon/north of Brecon, maybe even Builth Wells would suit you well to stop at. Then start the route above (in the pic) on the next day.

    Road Trip/Tour 2019!

This is 90 miles and 3 hours of driving alone, without photo stops/fuel/regroup. That would be a good days driving IME. By the time you drive some roads, like the black mountains 4-5 times. Then you could go back out and do another day of driving through some epic A roads within the...

    Road Trip/Tour 2019!

Hi guys, Just stumbled across this thread. I used to live not far from the black mountains. I think it’s best to plan a proper route IME. I’ve done plenty of driving days out in the past, it’s best to have a planned route as you will no doubt lose people along the way, and need reference points...

Wont start - flashing light then solid light - cranks but wont fire

Ahhhh jeezzz, sorry to hear this rare find DCi is becoming an utter ball ache. There must be a worse case senario and be able to just swap barrel/door locks and ECU? I’d skip the whole fault finding in between and save the hassle. It’ll probably be cheaper too, rather than spending chunks in...

This is what I’ve thought too, if it’s not caused any issues so far, then I’ll just leave it and make the plug more secure.
