Im sure mine wont be running rich as such because the ECU "should" adjust for the lack of o2 running thru the system, but I just thought that if I could get more air in, and out and do it quicker with a free-er breathing system then the ECU should be able to compensate because it would either...
Luckily I got a new contract right before I ran out of money, so for now the 172 is safe. Looking for something a little more permanent because this job is going to kill me with boredom
Why not try changing to 2nd before the corner and use engine braking to help slow down. Should also keep the revs up provided you dont slow down too much...
I was just thinking about something.
Add an induction kit / easier breathing filter and a free flow exhaust to a 172 without a chip and the car runs lean. I might be wrong but this is because the std. ECU doesnt have the range to cater for the increased air throughput, so the fuel isnt...
I had the option of getting a 98 WRX with about 260BHP at the wheels for 1000 squid less than I paid for my 01 172.
Still sometimes think Ive made a mistake, but then again Im a fan of small cars so maybe the clio is more for me ;)
Ive got like a juddery feeling if Im slipping the clutch a bit at very low revs but it smooths out at about 2k rpm.
Dont notice any slipping in gear though
Well after much stressing, worrying, and fearing that Id lose my baby after being retrenched, I just got a phonecall today to inform me that the last minute interview I went to on thursday afternoon was successful and Ill be starting immediately as a MIS Data Analyst for Capital One and as such...
Yeah they tend to weave a bit under heavy braking, but Ive found it to be more noticable on uneven roads but nothing that cant be controlled easily.
Even under extreme braking on a bad surface Ive found to car to behave nicely (this was braking in a straight line).
Get your bias checked out...
Since losing my work contract last month Ive had to come to the realisation that I have to sell my beloved 172.
Im really really sad about this as the car was going great and I was intending on keeping her for a good few years.
I was down at the Renault dealer yesterday but they are no help...
Hey all,
Just a quick note to say Im still around, although the lack of a PC at home and spending my time looking for a new job is keeping me off the forums.
Hope all is going well and hopefully soon Ill be back.
ps. Spotted a Williams down here in South Africa which nearly caused me to...

Ok well the new head unit is in (Just need an antenae adapter for it as the renault one dont fit).
What Im after now if getting the sound right because the standard speakers are not great.
Any ideas of where to from here with regard to replacing the door speakers, and possibly a small sub.
Oh My Word...Renault are out to confuse us BIG TIME!
Ive just managed to get the install 99% complete (Still have to somehow connect the antennae to the HU) but its sounding good.
Red/Purple in the 172 connects to yellow on the HU?!?
Yellow in the 172 connects to red on the HU...
Okay, Ive just gotten home with my new Pioneer DEH-740MP and pulled out the Renault HU and..............The connectors are NOT compatable! :o
Not a problem Ive done installs before and all I have to do is splice the new HUs connector to the 172s wiring and Ill be done. :D
Only problem I have...
For £10 you could join the club and get a Cliosport sticker which will give you a gauanteed 10bhp. For another fiver you could get a "Cliosport" keyring which when attached to your key will provide you with an added 5bhp.
All in all a pretty good deal for £15
