I sent an email to one of the top motor engineering firms in SA and asked them for some quotes on a stage one and 2.
I then asked them if they would be able to source and fit throttle bodies to the car. This is their reply
hi robin.
the following I can offer you:
-programmable computer...
Okay, basically youll accelerate slower by the percentage difference in diameter percentage difference between the original wheels and the new ones, so lets say you used to get from 0-62 in 7.0 seconds and your wheels are 3 percent bigger then youll now get to 62 in 7.12 seconds
Youll notice...
Well Ive gotta admit when I first joined the forum and started reading about these 16V Clios, I thought Id bought a serious rocket...took me a little while to cotton onto the fact that the valver was a 1.8
Welcome to the forums mate, and dont feel bad about the Saxo...at least you got your mind aiming in the right direction with the 172 ;)
Youll love the 172, especially the shove from about 4500r/min
oh what the hell, lets just rip out the interior and drop a great big V10 into the rear and convert to mid-engine, awd configuration....now that would be something to breag about
Any chance of someone photoshopping them clear lights onto my 172 from the gallery

Hahaha,
I dont know if any of you guys read the 172 codes.
mk1 172 CB0M
mk2 172 CB1N
Does this mean that the mk1 is "da bom"
and the mk2 belongs in "da bin"
Just thought that was mildly amusing...so no flaming me mkay
One of the weird things Ive found with being in the business is that myself and quite a few othre developers dont have time to do much with our own sites
I think I read somewhere that the percentage difference between the diameter of the new and original wheels is the same as the percentage lost or gained in acceleration, so....
if your new diameter is 3% larger than the original you theoretically lose 3% of your acceleration performance
How...
Left for work this morning on the first cold morning of the year for me. The clock was showing 4 degrees and once the car was warmed up it was such a pleasure to drive. The car was just so alive and responsive.
I think Im going to love winter.
Who woulda thought that the difference between 4...
Twas done at Renault Constantia Kloof
Luckily here in SA all Renaults are imports and the warrenties are determined on first delivery date. If it was delivered before 28 June 2001 then you have 1 year warrenty. If car was sold after that then you get the 3 year.
Well its about time I had decent service as the last time I serviced a Clio (my old 1.4 16V) I was very unhappy, but then that was at a dealer who has recently closed down.
I was very impressed with the 30,000km service done to my car yesterday.
Dropped the car off at the dealer at just before 7am and was met by one of the salesmen who I have dealt with before and was offered coffee while I waited for my lift to arrive.
Booked the car in and asked them to check...
just as long as Im notbeing overcharged (as far as renault are concerned)
Just sounded really expensive...just that is almost doubling my service price
Nah, Renault took all the hard core bits and threw them away to make the car more mature and friendly and softer to drive.
Quotes taken from car mags about the different cars
Mk1 - "If ever there was a car that justified track days, this is it." - Car Magazine
Mk2 - "Doesnt have the...
