Re: c**k in a White 200
I think you are right and there is more to this than meets the eye, I've been around a fair while and met nobody who behaves as described in the first thread ;)
Mine has burnt no oil and seems healthy, I did no continuous high revs, generally below 4k rpm for the first 1000 miles with occasional higher rpm blast to near the red line as more miles went on.
Then as it neared the 1000 miles I did 700 miles in one day driving down to South of France with...
This thread/poll is no longer relevant as once you have voted you cannot vote again............. It only counts for the time when the 200 was launched and this thread created.
Mods should stick up a fresh one and see if the results now differ after more exposure to the new face of Renault
The car must be taxed at the point of sale so pretty irrelevant as the garage will pay :)
Saying that the dealer will reflect it in the sale price so a new 59 Plate now appears to have been an even better deal (list price was reduced, scrappage schemed one of my runabouts and VAT was 15%)...
That does not make sense :dead:
I think you'll find that money is worth less now, due to something called inflation.... So, when launched, if they both could be bought for £14k (which is not so far off), then the 200 Cup is actually the cheaper car in real terms.
Simple really :rasp:
Brown Bear seems to have a grudge against the 200, he reads every 200 thread and posts the same comments. Must be some sort of inferiority complex :D :rasp:
Bloody hell, I said I was 36 above which added a year on my age.... Must be senility kicking in already
In answer to Jasey, A & B roads absolutely no problems, Cup chassis is great for anything that's not a pot holed ridden country lane IMO :)
I agree with n0ddie.
I have driven solid for 9 hours, 700 miles on motorways in my Cup and no issues at all, anyone that says otherwise probably wishes they'd bought Cup chassis ;)
PS - I'm 36 and never noticed any lack of comfort. The Recaros def help.
Quite often the newer heavier car is not touted by journalists as being quicker, take a look at FN2 and EP3 CTR for example... There is more than juust weight to consider and I don't think anyone is disputing the 200 is a pretty good package for getting from A to B in a hurry :)
Interesting as I have owned nearly 20 cars of various ages and done on average somewhere around 25-30k in each of them, never once fitted a clutch.
Many of the cars were also driven on track (no intention of taking the 200 there), pretty smooth just changing at peak power?
Many of my friends...
Should also enquire what track length it was, if it's a 1min lap on Bedford Autodrome type affair then 2 sec is a fair pull, if it's 10min lap on the ring then 2 sec is no difference :)
I think the one that Evo are running is not a Cup, it is a FF with Cup Pack... On track the lighter Cup car which is the correct comparison (yes it's only -40kg) would have given even more difference.
Just facts :o :approve:
From 2nd to 3rd with TC off yes, I was surprised too.
I prev had a MR2 Rev 3 Turbo running a little more boost than standard (same weight although engine over the RWD) and this had little problem finding traction in the dry. S2000 before that, when revving gave a loud chirp from the tyres on...
To be honest, I noticed the Clio 200 with TC off quite happily loses traction going up from 2nd to 3rd gear if you're revving hard, I've noticed this twice now.
This is in a bog standard car, OK it's not in the same league as my previous cars but it can certainly happen under acceleration...
Don't agree with the advice to use Slick 50, just change regularly with high quality oil - With today's high quality synthetic oils there is no need for additives ;)
