How much is it for just the parts? I would love to do something like this as a project just to be able to say I did it myself (obviously bar the mapping) and have the satisfaction. I have always paid someone else to do stuff on my cars and now I have the 172 as a track car/toy I could leave it...
Eibach or Powerflex? Not sure don't think there is any difference between them adjustment/quality, just a few quid different in price which ones would you buy I can't think of any difference and pictures look the same lol probably all made in China and put in different packaging.
I'm taking...
I've just had my 2118 speed lines refurbished but painted not powder coated cost me £180 had quotes from £100 up to £300 in 15" no tyres and no balancing just the wheels. Apparently there is a place in Birmingham that powder coats for £80 a set @Chi might known who not sure if that includes the...
That looks awesome, excellent work. There me umming and ahhhhing over fitting my own braided hoses haha. (Never wielded a spanner at a car before lol but my track clio seems the best place to start I suppose)
Tried a link I found on here but couldn't get it working guess I will have to try on my pc when I get home from.work in the morning. That's the problem lol I have too much free time to fill in work and get to post loads of rubbish on here.
I have the carbon lorraine pads on at the min and they seem very good had to anchor on the other day while taking the car for a blast to blow the cobwebs off and they stopped me pretty quick lol was mainly for future reference as I would definitely want to get the use outta these first. Just not...
What do you recommend Pad wise for mainly track and some occasional road use? when you say make a mess is it the brake dust or particles that damage the wheels? They will be sealed with plenty of Gtechniq C5 wheel sealant before they go near the car.
@JoeMarano Yeah they're sliders luckily as I'm 6'1 and couldn't be doing with fixed runners plus I share the car with my dad. They're pretty comfy too once your in them just feels weird as I can just about see the end of the bonnet with them being pretty low down.
Dropped my 2118s off to be refurbished white on Thursdays hoping they come back good. And want to get it stripped out and all the wires/cables tidied up ready to work on my shopping list.
Shopping list : (so far)
Projector Headlights (for the HID kit which is fitted at the min but in the...
Great hopefully will get some bits off you once I checked my brakes over I'm thinking I'm gonna be needing some soon anyway. I do have Carbon Lorraine pads on at the min but not had chance to check the discs over or know if they're OEM or not.
Bored in work so for future ref.... If I put new discs and pads on my 172 will they have to be run in for a gentle lap or two on the track day? Mine is road legal so I would probably do it on the road before I went to the track, plus I would be going out on a road test to make sure all is well...
Adjuster is about £8 (131317917458) or another set (390985523252) for £120 but probably closer to me lol in Cumbria, mine are only for track and occasionally road so don't fancy paying too much if I stumble across xenon in the breakers I would have them if not projectors are fine for me.
@Woody_xX Just seen these on eBay item number 261662668242 set of xenons for £80 but located down south too far for me to go collect not sure where your based.
Stu
I'm currently on the hunt for standard projector headlights for my track car but a local breakers yard have a couple of clio's in and my mum is friends with the owner so he said I can go down and strip what I need off any of the car's hoping one has xenons lol (plus I need some towing eyes) if...
So am I right in thinking if I just go the breakers or scrappy and they have a Clio then I can just take the headlights off it and straight swap? Luckily a mate owns a large breakers in my town and gonna call down and see him (need a couple of towing eyes for track so while I'm there two birds...
Well I have a 125d BMW and had rear wheel drive for the last 7 years (only time I regret it is winter lol) dad's had Audi's for the last 10 years and has just bought himself a V10 R8+ and we got the bug after going on the Audi track day but for what the clio cost (set of tyres on the R8 lol) it...
Yeah lol been the ring a few years ago and Silverstone on an Audi track day last month that my dad got invited to when he bought his R8. Other than that not done any.
Think I have narrowed it down to these to replace the Yoko Neova AD08 that are on at the minute but are flush with the wear markers so not ideal on the road. (how low would you run your tyres on track? weather permitting I assume) Only decided not to replace the AD08's because they're £20 each...
Or the Uniroyal Rain sport and Continental Premium Contacts (2 or 5's) can be had for similar money.
Appreciate the patience too guys with the millions of questions lol.
Thanks.
Not fussed on the xenons to be fair I would use my headlights and see if I can get new bulb holders or whatever I need. But probably easier to get new units for what they cost. What's the difference between reflector and projector headlights just wondering.
Was just thinking I may just get some headlights from someone breaking a car or a scrappy. Which ones would be best and are they just plug and play? The HID bulbs are £25 as I think I'll need two due to not knowing how bright they are and don't want them odd. And can't be that's much more for...
Are the headlights on a 172 Cup xenons or might be worth swapping them for xenons if the aren't. Don't really have a better picture of the headlights themselves at the min.
