All of you will know that I will defend Vista until I'm blue in the face because on the whole I think it's a big step forwards in terms of usability and experience over Windows XP. It's had a hard birth with people nowadays thinking they're good at computers and downloading the Torrents for RCs...
Yep, got a room of 50 Dell PowerEdge 1650s and only one has 'failed' in the last 6 years - one of the Power Supplies went which sent a nice big power surge of *lots* through the Chipset, leaving a smouldering mess of an Intel chip. However, both Processors and all the RAM, the RAID add-in card...
Shite screen resolution on the one they're advertising - the one I've got has the upgraded 1440x900 screen as tested by our friend at TR. I've also got the docking station (just arrived today!) if you're interested in any of it. And if you really do want a new keyboard and mouse, they're...
However, as has been said if you don't mind a 1-year warranty, and plastic build quality then there are 'comparable' notebooks, however none will have the build quality and support of the Dell D-series - which it has to be said despite starting on an 'OK' footing with the D600, by the D630 they...
However I believe it's worth noting, the D630 itself doesn't bench any better than the D620 chip-for-chip - the only changes are the move to the i965 chipset and a different processor socket. IMHO the D630 shouldn't exist - from the consumer point of view it's a shafting as the two things the...
Just a shade... Lol.

Doesn't seem too bad, although only one Digital input (but has an analog input as well).
'Loosely placed it in'...
And people wonder why I'll take very small profit margins to build computers over letting them go places like that - where I know they're put together by people so how much effort really is it to plug a monitor and power in and make sure it fires?!
Appalling tbh...
And just to illustrate my point, here's the processor that's in it. Anybody for a free laptop?!

Not a cat's chance in hell I'm afraid -if you can find me a 2.33Ghz Core2Duo for even close to that money then you can have it for £200.

Leave as is - sits well and lower doesn't equal better handling. RenaultSport spent some time making your car handle well and a random company making shorter springs isn't going to make it better.
Unless you're going to do it 'properly' with a good set of matched dampers/springs or Coilovers...
1 - Because I don't need it
2 - Just over a year old - purchase date 21/07/2007
3 - Warranty until that date 2010

Rated exceptionally well.
I've got a Dell Latitude D620 up for grabs at £400:
80GB HDD
DVD-RW
2.33GHz Core2Duo
2GB RAM (You can upgrade this for £70 - still less than your £500 budget)
Battery life is good on it - can also provide the D-Bay battery if needs be.
Sound/speakers are good for a laptop - they're not fancy...
You need to reinstall the sound driver after SP3 install - it's because SP3 installs UAA support, which I believe can occasionally cause a problem when it's been installed manually.
Love the new Dell laptops, our account manager is sorting us an E4200 for delivery on release date, as we've got around 100 of the D430s... Yum!
Price tag at release is looking to be around the £2k mark though if you get the 64GB Flash drive etc.
