Had a flyer from my dealer trying to sell me MOT warranty - you pay £79 and they guarantee to cover repairs if it fails. Theres a list of stuff thats covered, but no way to tell whether its comprehensive or not. Anyone got a definitive list of things that your car can fail an MOT on please?

Varies from 1 engine to another - depends how good the cooling system is at regulating the temperature.

If you have an air leak between the manifold and the pipe your idling will be screwed. Check everywhere for air leaks.

Good question. I think if they really helped then the economy-oriented models would have them too, as theyd undoubtedly assist fuel efficiency, and thats what sells vehicles in that category. I think its a bit like alloy wheels - they look nice but dont offer any particular advantage.

Still a good idea - you build up 2 NCBs - whoever has the most insures the highest group car.

Its difficult (i.e. expensive) insuring more than 1 car - best to get the good lady to own it if she hasnt already got a motor.

182=great car! And the only Renaultsport Clio you can buy at the moment for sensible money. Cant see the point in changing from a 172 though, going to lose a couple of thousand quid. Its not like a 182 is going to leave you for dead on a trackday (fingers crossed). 10 bhp makes it better, but...
