Trophy having a play with a Porsche GT2 on the A1(M) on friday

Must be running about 280bhp? or have you lost a lot of weight? Must feel very quick with that kind of power. Will easily keep with most 996s (in fact be quicker than the boggo 286bhp ones) and possibly be a match for the base 997s, but GT2s espeically the 997 is 599/LP640/Zonda territory.

Trophy having a play with a Porsche GT2 on the A1(M) on friday

No because after a few people quite rightly were a little bit sceptical when a GT2 is mentioned vs a clio, you piped up it was a turbo "for the know it alls", and he wasn't even sure himself if it was him so we still didn't know who it was. As I said turbo or not it would just get wasted, so it...

Trophy having a play with a Porsche GT2 on the A1(M) on friday

He said he had a vague recolation that's all, it's not something you might forget really is it lol. Anyway he has now said it wasn't him so you can stop your rimming now.

Trophy having a play with a Porsche GT2 on the A1(M) on friday

How do you now it's a turbo as I didn't think we knew who it was in the Trophy? But turbo or not it'd still get wasted by a GT2.

Trophy having a play with a Porsche GT2 on the A1(M) on friday

That's be about right hehe, the GT2 is just so otherworldly quick it could match a 182s pace without noticing - gets to 100 in half the time of a Clio Sport. The 997 version can match or beat almost any super(hyper)car you could mention (0-100 7.3 seconds...crazy).

    Heel Toeing in a 182?

I agree it probably was a bit of marketing, it probably was that they used the tyre to hone the chassis to like you said. But the Honda S2000 and VX220 are two I can think of straight away that aren't mega money cars that have tyres with specific tyre designations for them. In fact the latter...

    Heel Toeing in a 182?

I find it quite difficult in the 182, is it just me or does the drive by wire make it not so great for it? My 205GTi is sooo easy to do, my M Coupe is not bad either but he Clio feels difficult to balance brake and throttle input and throttle often seems inconsistent. I bet the throttle cabled...

    Clio 182...what do you dislike?

If you can "afford" to buy and run a 360 why does that automatically mean you also have loads more excess cash?

    v12 diesel v v10 petrol

The M6 didn't open it up straight away IMO, you can see that at one point it surges ahead (after it's passed and is in front for a few seconds, it then pulls away convincingly). To do that needs big power - I think it was just pacing itslef with them all, as it would wipe the floor with the m3...

    Clio 182...what do you dislike?

OP = Original Poster Yea I find the steering wheel fine too - I was meaning that if you're used to driving a car with a smaller wheel and get in the Clio, if it feels alright then it must be ok! if that wasn't clear lol. Usually when you drive a car with a small wheel and get in one with a...

How much downforce does the 197 diffuser give?

There is probably truth in that but what hatchback have you been in that is noisier than an Exige! they're known for high road and wind noise. Most of the noise from hatchbacks is the road noise made worse by the resonance in the open rear IMO. They're not the quietest cars available but...

    Clio 182...what do you dislike?

Nothing wrong with mine on cold start - it starts with the key idles around 1300rpm for afew seconds and slows to around 1100rpm until it's warm. It does however, I assume like all 182s, have a lumpy cold map which I assume is what people have the problem with but this goes away after a mile or...

Silver 197 losing to my vectra in manchester

No true petrolhead would ever say that, most of the time it's for cost reasons; they can give good power and great economy. Yes they have a lot more torque but a narrow powerband and don't rev. Perfect engines for effortless a-b driving but not for pressing on - it just doesn't give the same...

    182 Anthracite Alloy Weight

    Here's another guess :D it's about 8.5-9kg. It's not less than 8 and not more than 10.

    182 owners.....

Clutches should last ages and ages in these cars; big engine small car so should last over 100k unless you a poor with the clutch or it breaks for some reason that's not through normal wear.

How much downforce does the 197 diffuser give?

At 100mph and "at very high speed" is probably the difference here. I am of the opinion the "at very high speed" = the car's top speed (ie around 140mph). Without knowing this speed we're just guessing but I think if it was a quotable speed of 100mph or less it would have been, otherwise they...

Silver 197 losing to my vectra in manchester

There was probably no error, just that diesel generally have pretty short 1st gears and lurch off the line, and generally don't have long 2nd or 3rd gears - it's related to the powerband so you need lots of quick changes to get it going but it's when you hit 4th and 5th they come in to their...

Can cruise control be fitted to a 172 cup?

Would be much harder (thought I don't doubt cruise could exist for the phase 1) - it's the fact that it has a throttle cable rather than drive by wire means that it'd be more than getting a the switch in the dash plugged in and approopriate sterring controls; it's need a way to module the...

Silver 197 losing to my vectra in manchester

30d and 35ds are in another league, the quickest diesels around, you never know if that was chipped either, if they are they're as quick as an E46 M3 (in fact a 335d probably is from the factory).

Silver 197 losing to my vectra in manchester

Calm down dear, because that's what it is, a "road story". I'm just hypothesising why the thread has got the posts it has i.e. I was trying to help answer your post from before where you were telling people to "get over it". It's because normally, a 4-up Vectra CDTi (chipped or otherwise) would...

Silver 197 losing to my vectra in manchester

It's probably because this was a one off "race" where the 197 driver may or may not have been on the ball. If someone on here with a 197 pre-arranged a few drags off the line with this Vectra then that would be a more realistic outcome. From 70 onwards the Vectra would be quicker though if...

I think it's because they are ducts so have an in and and out.
  24. C

How much downforce does the 197 diffuser give?

It doesn't say 40kg at 70mph in the brocuhe it says "very high speed" which probably translates to the car's TOP SPEED, as this will be the point at which it will be making the most difference (the faster the car goes). It doesn't add 40kg of downforce but it probably reduces lift by 40kg...

    Nearly got scammed!

This will probably be the same people. As someone said, it's basically a legal scam. All very nice chatty on the phone with proper phone numbers, and they'll lie to you saying they have buyers waiting for it, ask for nearly £100 and then never hear from them again...

    1.6 to a DCI 80

I think to save money it would work, the DCis will have almost 50% better fuel economy over a 1.6, apparently 65/70mpg can be seen on a run, plus £35 tax which is probably less that a 1/4 of the 1.6 so running costs would be minimal IMO.

    1.6 to a DCI 80

I looked at DCis last year to replace a 1.2 16v (was looking for a DCi100 but just couldn't find one), test drove a DCi80 and wasn't impressed. I was hoping for a "small car high torque" effortless kind of drive but it wasn't like that, it didn't feel very responsive either. You could tell it...

Some people just dont want to sell their cars

He means the seller should have took you number and rang you back, which is the normal way to do things. Otherwise you're still left guessing how long his meal time is going to be lol, then you wonder is it too "late" to ring back.

how different is a 172cup to drive versus 182?

I agree with a 1.2 working harder on the motorway, but up to around 70 the 1.2 is more economical, start pushing it over that and the mpg drops loads whereas the 1#2 tail off less dramatically. Round town the 1.2 is hugely more econmomical vs the 182 though. I still can't see, under normal...
