The car was designed to be a left hand drive car and the throttle cable has been extended to reach the right side of the car! That is a design fault that they were lazy when they converted the car from left to right hand drive and never checked that the parts would stand the test of time.

It's down to the design of the cable. Do a search on here. You need to uprate your return spring and it's easiest to do at the pedal, PM me if you need some more help!

The current key is intermitant so it needs replacing anyway.

The way I look at it is pay to get it done and then the car is working, then it's there to use if I need it, no point in not poaying the money and not using the car, it gets older and worth less by the day.

It's not that the product will be faulty, just that it may not fix the problem. As long as I get the thing started at some point who cares how much it costs. I can give the spare key to anyone who might want to use the car as I never do anyway.

That happened the day I bought a Renault! I have the intermitant imobiliser problem, I'm pretty certain the Decoder is ok as Mike CLIPed it a year ago and tested it. It has to be the key but Renault are w*****s, no other way to explain that!

I asked, they said no! Guy had no idea about the ECU, Ring Decoder, Key circuit/system. Just hope it's not the ECU, lots of cash, Ring Decoder is cheap if it's that!

Worth the money? Lights on Dash board? Easy to fit or rear beam issue?

Thanks Dan! The car has become a recycling bin whilst it won't start so £150 to get it going so I can stop the Mrs. filling with old bottles and tins isn't bad!

And they won't even give me a refund if it doesn't work, what's going on in the world? :dead:

No one would buy it! :( I spent a wedge on it instead and now the immobiliser is up the spout but when I get to be in England for more than a week then I will get it sorted and start driving it instead of using my MkIV Golf GTDi.

Once it starts you can't every fully cure it! You're fucked just like the rest of us ph-quick owners!! I have had three new cables and a new throttle body too. They all helped but ultimatley the design is floored and the UK spec cars were never meant to run with a long cable, the Euro cars...

I though wider wheels meant more contact with the ground and hence less grip overall as the presure per area was reduced?

Will see good gains with a Peco exhaust!

It's not worth the time or money, the 1.7 lump is limited and as it has never been developed properly as the 1.4 lump is more popular.

I don't have one on the rear beam where I guess it should be and I have never had any trouble with my MOT's. Should I have one on there and would this explain why my rear discs have never been completely shiny at any point?
