Intel XMP is just a proprietary overclocking/memory timing thing. It doesn’t mean the RAM is intel only or won’t work without XMP.

I prefer using Xbox controllers too, most PC games know what it is and map everything nicely. Dualshock also works though. Not that I often use a controller but some games (e.g. Stray) pretty much need one.
