205s will slow you down and cause more tramlining at the front! I would imagine that the new 182 had modified ratios to accomodate the new size tyres.....but well soon know the answer to that one!

I thought that was the light sensor for the Auto lights??? Isnt the rain sensor the dark patch at the bottom centre of the windscreen??

Theres nothing to worry about with the drill providing you dont go crazy!! I would do what fred says as thats what I did...tape it into position and then you will be able to drill hole pretty easily! The centre hole should be done for you so finding the centre is easy!

Nice to see wackojacko filling you with confidence about your new motor! You car will quicken with miles its just need to loosen up. MK1 will alway FEEL quicker they have a sharper torque curve so you get more of a kick in the back at max acceleration. You shouldnt really have any problems...

Its not the weight its the diameter and it is possible to match (in most cases) the OEM diameter! You just need to choose carefully!

You dont get more contact with bigger wheels! It depends on the width of the tyre...the 172 comes with 195s and I have the same 195 width in 17" diameter so no more contact with the road than normal! Trust me you would have to be abnormal to notice the difference in ride between the 16s and 17s

The auto button automatically controls the temperature! i.e you set the temp and then it adjusts the fan and switched the AC on accordingly to maintain that temp
