A MK2 172 has a smoother torque curve which means a smoother powers delivery throughout a wider rev range whereas the mk1 had a very sharp curve meaning that you got more of a kick in the back when max torque was reached making the car feel quicker the unknowing driver.

So what do you reckon the acceleration is then 0-60 etc Quarter mile in 10.2 doesnt seem that quick to me for 1000bhp!!!!!! Ive read about Nissan Sunnys that will do it in that with far far less bhp!

Daipac Ive had mine for a year now but when I first got it I felt exactly the same as you! I had come from a Saxo which was really cheap to run so a 172 was a bit of a shock to the system, I though about seeling it then I just got more and more used to it! Christ I never had my eyes of the fuel...

Daipac how much do you expect to save by buying a 106GTI? I personally would never consider a 2nd hand car expecially a budget perforance car like the 172 and 106GTI. SO 5k for the car.....you would have to borrow over at the most 2 years to make it value for money, so thats £150 to £200 and...
