BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He I will second this... I'm really looking forwards to this meet now and even have permission from the wife to go and play with the "stupid boy toys" so i'll finally get to see this car perform (no pressure...

    Starting problems

Unless there's something obvious wrong you're gonna firstly need to see what the ECU is seeing. If all there is fine then compression test it and hope for the best. Mick

    faulty 182 cat

Can't do a "sports" cat but can do you a new type approved unit for a 182 for £320 fitted including new fitting kit. Mick Diamond Motors

    Starting problems

When it turns over does the engine sound "normal" eg. Has compression? Not wanting to assume the worst but I'm thinking timing belt until you say it's got compression.

    Renault Inspection

Isn't RenTec close to you or is that Portsmouth (genuinely don't know where Mike is but he's always done cracking work)? Belts and servicing should always be carried out by competent people and that doesn't, by default, mean the dealers. I've had a Clio III and a Scenic II in this year alone...

    The mrs's clio againnnnnnn

The first thing setting alarm bells off in my head is its a 1.2 Clio... They are plagued with electrical gremlins so take any/all advice with a pinch of salt and replace nothing without evidence it's actually faulty! (thinking of your wallet) Firstly the throttle pedal and TPS fault. Check...

    Immobiliser problems

Ant, Possibly a few things occurring here but there's only one you will be able to check yourself I'm afraid which is the fuse for the UCH in the passenger side of the dash. It's a 5A that powers the decoder ring and is pretty common for causing imob issues. Anything else you're going to need...

    Renault Inspection

Some dealers are great and others not so great. I've been dealing with a Megane II today that went to a local Renault franchise to have a new alternator... A pretty standard job for any garage (you'd think). They fitted a non-genuine unit which in itself isn't an issue as people generally don't...

    mr clutch updated again

Mick, have they offered to take on the cambelt change at a special rate for you as an act of good faith? Seriously, your last Renault had a timing issue that was caused by poor workman ship that got it wrong and that was on an F7R which are childs play in comparison to the F4R. Its your car...

Yeah I've got a few friends that live in DH and we normally end up staying in an appartment just around the corner from Gaucho's (The girls like to go shop so we stay where the shops are meaning the boys can drink and eat Turkish keebabs without venturing too far from where we all live). I've...

    Sky broadband problems recently?

Not really no but I've noticed it has gone really crap though. I think they're hinting we upgrade to their fibre network that costs.

    renault turbo suppliers?

I tried that line in your McDonalds whilst waiting for you one time... Amazing discount ;)

    renault turbo suppliers?

It really does depend on what yours actually needs but the one thing you really need to be sure of with rebuilt tubos is that they've been properly balanced up. They core spins at silly speeds and the slightest inbalance causes damage that has potential to send pieces of turbo into your bores...

I never get tired of seeing a Mk1 rear end lifting a shoe... They just look epic! Where in NL are you from? I always keep an eye out for old diamonds when I go to Den Haag but they seem to be rare (probably because owning a car in NL isn't cheap). Anyway, welcome to CS and enjoy your stay. Mick

I've always used Midland Turbo but depending on where you are they may not be the best choice.

    Carlube 75w90 for gearbox?

Honestly, you will be fine with 3litres of that stuff unless it's a complete bare bone strip, rebuild and reinstall of the box. In truth, even then it wouldn't kill it to be 0.1l under

Misfire at idle ONLY! Fred, Danny, Mick!

Barry, it doesn't matter if it's CLIP, AutoLogic, SPX, Snap-On or a cheap eBay reader... If you don't know what you're looking at you won't find a problem. I'd be very surprised if "code reading" put an accurate finger on a misfire issue on a Clio II All I'm saying is you get what you pay for...

    Carlube 75w90 for gearbox?

The 75w/90 oil and volume are both fine as 3.1l actually overflows the fill point on most boxes as its actually quite hard to fully drain them (as does 3l). Mick
