Same as the myth with the Contisportcontacts on the 172 cup. The rumour went round that the red dot on the sidewall made them bespoke to the car...bag of s**t! lol.
How are you finding these tyres? I can imagine wet grip levels aren't great but then I don't push it when it is wet so no problem.
My contis (which I can't fault) are going to be shot after my trackday on 4th March so will be needing a new set of boots all round.
I do a lot of motorway...
I know one of the mechanics that works there and he's got a 182, know's how they work and I recommend them. Plus he's a top bloke.
I'm always around ware, there's a 52 plate that parks near my gf's house, normally parked by weston house?
Small world.
Andy, that's presdales school. I remember...
A bit less than 500;) and that included a new water pump, cambelt kit, aux belt.
Apparently the cups are a lot easier to do the work on though cos of no aircon system.
Sitting in the usual grid lock M25 traffic this morning and up rolls a black Vantage...it really is the best of british imo. A beautiful car and it sounded as sweet as a nut too.
I can't recommend enough the DS2500, I've had mine on for a while now and they've bed in really well and are holding up. Add the Goodridge hoses and it's grins all round...top stuff:D
The onlt thing you can do about the lack of ABS is be aware of it and don't be a c**k...in short. Drive anyting...
I'm in a similar situation too chris but mine's done 65,000 miles. But got the cambelt and a few other bits done at the weekend as I've decided to stick with it.
I also agree wih superfastdan, there's only a few cars out there I'd go for over the clio. I test drove the focus ST the other day...
I don't think it's that road alone, it's a nightmare out there and I have to shut all the knob jockeys out or I'd loose my rag!
Hmmm, might emmigrate to finland.
With my journey which is M25, M40 I'm getting 37-40 mpg out of the cup. My contis have now been on since early summer last year aswell, not sure how many miles that is? Probably about 12,000.
But saying that, my old commute was through twisties (which I miss like mad) and I got through tyres...
No I couldn't cos the TT driver infront was making love to the outside lane!! Say no more...I showed him my arse up the slip road to henley though (although he didn't go up it!).
I fitted the pros and it raised it, no comment.
Also, take a good look at a side shot of a cup (not std.) with sportlines and you'll see hardly any height change.
172 cups seem to be different to the standard 172's in the spring dept!
The cup that is, got the cambelt changed and had the leaking water pump changed at the same time. Was going to change cars but she's sound as a pound according to my mechanic mate. And she's also flying at the mo, just run in nicely. 65,000 miles of bliss:D
Finally got the Goodridge hoses...
They're Kahn RSR's iirc, not the OZ focus RS wheels.
Aah, another fellow 172 cupper:D
AJR, the chronos are slightly different, I had them on my old focus. The RS wheels are bespoke to the RS.
Cliolad, you're not allowed into Hertford unless you own a boxster or an M3...be careful not to fall into the elberts/hertford boy mould and get a 330ci like everyone else.
Probably have seen you, it's a bit deliverance around Ware (although a bit nicer than it was 6 or so years ago). Where...
