Yeah, you'll require a new aux belt kit - ie, belt, tensioner and idler, plus a couple hours labour to fit.

I had the exact same problem as you Si, belt had been changed twice but no mention of kit. I had a slight whine as well and that turned out to be the idler pulley.

The current numbers according the Renault parts site for the 172/182 alternator belt are the following: 7700114235 8200226493 Your number you posted 8200020924 IS an alternator belt accoding to renault, but not listed against the 172/182's for some reason :S

yeah mine was fine too, was about 85db iirc. was fine for bedford anyways, and i think they're one of the strictest tracks around for noise.
