I wouldn't worry about a cage personally as the Clio isn't exactly a death trap, just bear it in mind when you're on the circuit. Make sure your car has good brakes and tyres, that's the main thing! I'd also recommend Bedford for your first trackday as there's plenty of room for you to find your...

You mean the single-track road about 6 miles long? Yeah it was a nightmare... Not flooded, just a pain in the arse every time I met something coming the other way. Worth it though, it really is impressive!
Look fine to me mate... At this point in your life it's important to enjoy your car without spending all your money on it, so that you've got that bit extra cash when you do have something you really want :up:

I think as far as cars go, I'd say the 172 is the easiest top-spec car you could upgrade to from the bottom spec one. The 172 really isn't expensive to run.
I've yet to track the Meg, but if I do feel it needs a diff I'll probably get one retrofitted... Which will still work out cheaper than buying an R26!
I never found the 197 needed a diff when used to track mine... Maybe it's a difference in driving styles!
I've opted for the 225 Trophy on the basis that it's as close as I can get to an R26 whilst only having to spend half as much. No diff of course, but I can't say I've needed it yet... Despite my frantic drive through Wales the other day...
