I prefer to buy my cars privately as well....garages are in the know when it comes to bodging. Thing to remember about 02 cars is that they are going to be needing a cambelt change this year if it hasn't been done which is expensive...you could factor that into the deal.

My 172 is averaging 38mpg.....hardly expensive to run.

Got to get the belt done or accept that your going to have to drop the price as it's overdue.

Exactly I just don't understand this obssesion with the cosmetic on here...and if it's not that it's c**p bolt on aftermarket tuning products:(

Definately wrong one I've had a couple of different panel filters including an ITG in my 172 and both were exactly the same size as the OE one

That's the problem with Magnex exhausts....sound good but look poop

Agree with the above as I have owned both. Owning a Subaru made me so concious of petrol consumption which kinda spoit it for me....running/repair costs were okay though.

The Clio sport does make me smile.....when you can have such fun in the twisties and yet still get it to return over 40mpg it's got to be a half decent car:D

Very different than the Impreza but you shoule be very happy with the performance/fun for your money you get with the 172/182:D

Have to agree My Mk1 stealth sounds better now since it's been on the car for a while ....still slightly boomy at a certain RPM but in not uncomfortably loud at all. Just noticed the join on the Mk2 version further down the system....now that does make some sense moving it away from the rear...

Water may do the trick

Milage is low.....still wouldn't let it put you off. TBH though I'd go for the Mk2 172....better looking car even if it's slower:D
