Some people in this thread should really learn to shut up and not post if they don't know what they're talking about, rather than guess and make fools of themselves....
Oooh, me too - mine does the 'clicky thing' :D on occasions, but not always :S
Seems to be more when it's warmed up than from cold. Feels horrible though.....
But doesn't the aux belt just need doing again when the cambelt is done....? Sure I've seen that somewhere here.
But yeah, it's a crap time of year to have to be contemplating that sort of outlay - it'll just have to go on the credit card... :dapprove:
Yeah, just seen your other post on that. I guess between 4-5yrs is entering into the dodgy phase for these..... I'd hope that with only 35k on the clock, mine is likely to be ok but you never know how previous owners have driven it.
Looks like RS Tuning will be getting a call soon......
I've got the same dilemma: car is 4yrs, 2mths old and has done 35k so is due an auxiliary belt change now - for what, about £250 at a specialist?
BUT, 9 months later in Sept next year it will be 5 years old and therefore due a cambelt change too, even though the mileage will only be around...
Penny's just dropped - I've seen you/your car leaving SJUH once before! Was a good year or so ago...? I was based at LGI until recently so only came over to SJUH occasionally - must've got lucky that day! :)
Might wander over for a look if I get chance!
No there aren't, which is why I went to Leics for mine! (not a Renault dealer). Wakefield Renault (Harratts) has them now and again, but overpriced like all main dealers.
The other place to try in Leeds is Queens Service Station, Renault specialist in Hunslet - they usually have one or two.
Followed a girl in a Trophy (NA55...) this morning :quiet: ;) , from Meanwood into town. She was giving it some beans round the roundabout
Nice car, but possibly overshadowed by the Integrale we were both following!
Anyone here?
I was thinking more like £5500 too.
I just paid a fair bit less than £6500 for a 53-reg 172FF with less miles and warranty from an independent dealer.......
Can understand people going for the full dealer SH, even if it doesn't make financial sense. Your average Joe buying it next will just think FDSH is best, no matter what the reality.
Only enthusiasts like people on here will appeciate the merits of decent indie specialists.
How old is your car Andy?
Edit: Arse, just noticed it's a 182 so can't be much more than three years old. Another 18mths or so and it might've been worth doing the cambelt at the same time.
Gordon, I've been thinking the same.... Mine's done 35k so the auxiliary belt is all but due, but it'll also be 5yrs old come next Sept when the cambelt needs to be done too (nevermind the fact I'll only have 40-sth k miles on the clock). I might get both done at once soon, then it's set for...
Daz, what just 'manually adjust' actually mean?
I can waggle the whole switch around in it's socket a bit, but can't find a way to click it into a more stable position....?
