Blimey....I didn't know they were that good I'd like to own one..the only thing I don't like about them is the seats and the lack of xenons.

I wouldn't worry about brand too much, just go for fully synthetic 5/40w oil.

Fluid needs to be changed at 24k or 4years I'd change it more often if doing track work though.

Look out for cambelt change due at 72k or 5 years 5hr job and around £600 from a Renault dealer:eek:

I've had my 172 a year now and haven't had any problems with it yet. I had my Renault 19 16v for two years which was an old car (K plate)....even that seemed to be pretty well behaved for a Renault. Must be lucky

IIRC the RST std was around the 130bhp mark. Either way still modified.

Good but how modified was the evo? 170mph 1.6 / 200mph 2.0 (evo)......when you put it like that is doesn't seem that ballistic.

Quite a heavy engine in the VR6 which doesn't help on the handling front

I wouldn't bother with one either unless my car was heavily modified or I was doing a lot of track work.

Well I've driven a Golf TDi and it was s**t....wooly, vague steering and the dynamics of a boat (with a hole it it) lol
