Welcome to CS
I can see exactly where you are coming from...I had an L reg Impreza Import and boy did that drink fuel....got fed up in the end and sold it.
Also brought an 02 172 and really enjoy it....pretty cheap to run in comparison with the Subaru.
Sorry to hear about the car
Bristol really is a f**king nightmare when it comes to car crime...my mate had his old Fiesta broken into five times in one year in a similar way:(
Definately go to a breakers and get the car back to it's former glory
Get it done mate
I have a 2002 172 with under 20k on the clock but am going to get the belt done later in the year as it gets weaker with age and is more likely to snap.
What sort of car is it?
The 172/182 bumper is a bit of a pain to get off....held on with small clips at the wings as well as the two bolts per side.
You also have to really pull on the thing to get it to come off
I was going to suggest that....piece of piss to remove anyway.
I always take the whole cover off whan I take my car to a garage to avoid that part being broken.
172 owning chavs lol
And the 182 really is that much better than the 172?.....I don't think so.
I could go down the Renault dealers tomorrow and buy a 197 outright but choose not to as I have better things to spend my money on like my house.
Use an old coke bottle and a piece of tubing
Put a hole in the bottle and feed in the tubing sealing the hole with some blue tac or similar
You can then suck through the bottle top and the petrol will just drop into the bottle through the pipe so you won't swallow any.
Still get take in...
Cambelt on 172 & 182 is 72k or 5 years, whichever comes first.
36k is the aux belt and if the 36k isn't up by five years then that needs doing the same time as the cambelt.
Welcome to CS by the way and good luck finding a good 172/182
It's not a sh**ty product but I'm sure there are better quality exhausts out there if your willing to spend more money.
I brought a Magnex before the K-tec thinking that was going to be a safe bet which turned out to be a bad decision so I can see where you are coming from.
TBH everyones...
Good exhaust but I had to do a little modification to the rear exhaust hanger to stop in knocking.
Slight resonance at around 55/60mph but other than that sounds pretty nice.
