Damn, missed that one by searching for foglight as one word. Have secured one from another seller who has agreed to post 1st thing tomorrow, recorded (albeit £1 more!)
Now have switch and bulb (assuming its a #382), but still not holding out much hope because bulbs have already been switched...
The switch lights up, but unsure if this means that all other wires going to the back of the switch (to do the job) are likely to be okay? Light could be a simpler connection?
I'm no mechanic, but I've tried this for sure! Checked Haynes and 'foglights' are on a relay. But not sure if this for front, rear or both. Also not sure where to get a replacement relay to try, or how universal they are (off the Halfords shelf, suits most manufacturers or harder to get...
If that were true, then fine I'd do that this minute. But as you say, 'just a thought'. Can a qualified MOT tester confirm one way or another? Personally, I highly suspect that a working near side fog is vital, but am surprised about the fail re. the monitor light (or whatever its called?)
True, but I'm really happy with my car and not pissing another £200 a month down the drain or moaning about it on a forum. Just pointing out the swings and roundabouts.
Will still only cost a good bit less than £40 / month when the 172 engine goes in.
Whats the best cost / performance solution for getting HID style lamps in a mk1? My £30 'best on the market Philips megas**te' uprated bulbs are no good at all for driving around Yorkshire at top speed in the wee smalls.
Not worth rejecting it one last time and requesting a much higher figure than you'd realistically expect, to see if they meet you in the middle?
Although I know what its like with writeoffs, you rightly want the whole thing over asap.
Interesting. This debate is similar to ones about speakers in audiophile forums. There is a definate shiteness when testing a brand new speaker, but after 20 - 30 hours of hard useage, the speaker loosens up and performs to its best for a long time, eventually dying off.
I bought my mk1 at...
* admin please leave in general forum for a few hours if possible.
Need help urgently for MOT retest please!
It would be a shame to lose a days wage if I can't sort this problem in time. Fast running out of time to order parts / get them fitted.
I failed on:
a) Rear foglight does not come...
Halfords had most of the rear bulbs, but don't stock rear fog bulbs. Anyone got any more details on these? Are the rear fogs the same as the reverse bulbs etc? I assume not because they have their own relay?
Also, does anyone know if the relays in the fusebox are universal (used by other cars)...
They all look the same (for brakes, indicator etc). Are they a common type (used in other cars etc). What type are they (to search online)?
Is the rear fog lamp a different type? What are they called? need to order one but don't know where to start.
I've already had to see a psychotherapist re. my new sexual orientation, Cliophilia.
Find myself fantasizing about the 182 twin exhaust. Can anyone help?
Had lots of rear brake issues with my MOT.
Took car to mates and spent a few hours working with him tonight. He freed up the self adjusting wotsits in the drum (both were stuck) which fixed that problem, so hopefully it won't fail the retest with the pedal brakes now.
We (he) also tightened...
I wasn't meaning to sound sensetive about it. I've got £2.99 wipers on my front, from Tesco no less! Just questioning whether you've tried it on a mk1, as your profile says you're driving a Dymon, which will have a different shaped rear screen. Don't fancy driving 14 miles there and back for a...
