Greenstuff are good
Have to be careful with pad/disc setup...a lot of performance pads for track use take a lot of time to build up the heat needed for them to grip and they'll b**ger the std discs as well.
Totally agree
Bunging on large diameter intake pipes because they are 'unrestrictive' is bollox.
Try putting a 5 inch bore exhaust on the Clio and see how it affects performance......the same principles apply.
If you've got a good 172 and it runs well I'd stick with it.
I don't think the extra 10bhp of the 182 would make a massive amount of difference in everyday road driving conditions.
Nothing to do with air temp.
It's basically a device to alter the length of the inlets at different engine speeds to increase torque hence the two ducts.
If people want to cut pipes off and install air feeds to foglights etc and get the placebo effect of noise etc that's up to...
I've never driven a 172 with cable throttle so I don't know how different it is to the fbw system.
Why is there hestiation in the response in the fbw system anyway?
I'm not a great fan of any graphics or stripes on cars so I would take them off myself
Just personal preference though....it does have the grunt and history to back it up:D
2 silencers including the backbox....other 'box' is the cat.
I think the back box is the problem causing all the resonation...hate to say it but changing it for something else may be the solution.
Exactly...that's why bore sizes on exhausts and manifolds have to be spot on....big bore doesn't necessarily mean better flow.
I imagine it's the same scenario with the airbox intakes....the OE ones have been designed to flow and work properly.
A good karate chop to the dash usually does the trick
My 172 is starting to buzz & rattle like fook.....my answer to that is just to turn the music up:D
Yep...always the same when at a standstill.
More of an issue in turbocharged cars where the IC gets warm increasing the chances of det.
Not sure that increasing the inlet diameter to the airbox will make much difference....actually may reduce airflow.
Sounds good
I was thinking of wrapping my airbox in heatshield mat too...you can get it from DT in lots of sizes. Only problem is the awkward shape of the box and intake pipes.
I had a similar problem with the rear mount...had to file out the slots more so I could move it away from the hangar on the backbox to stop it knocking.
No problems since though:D
