I'd Leave the valve in place...it'll make no difference removing it.
Hillpower elbow will look good but will give no improvement in power.
Airfeed from the front will also give little gain.
ITG panel is a winner though:D
Makes no difference to heat soak....where that valve is stays pretty much the same temp as the air outside the car/engine bay.
The acoustic valve isn't a restriction, it merley changes the length of the inlets at different speeds which is important to torque levels.
You can remove the fog and run a cold air feed down to it but I personally wouldn't bother.
If your running the OE airbox with a decent filter like the ITG the std air feeds are good enough. It's worth noting that removing the acoustic valve is also a waste of time....renault spent time tuning...
Glad you got a result and the insurance has paid up:D
Stressful experience though.....I've never had a car stolen but I can only imagine how bad it must be.
Seen a lot of open filters on Jap cars
The main reason for this is a a Skyline/evo running 500bhp plus needs more airflow than the OE airbox can deliver.
For a 2 litre NA engine in a reasonably std state of tune the airbox designed for it will be up to the job.
That BS about the petrol is unlikely to be the problem.
Pinking is detonation....sounds like nails/bolts rattling about in exhaust/engine.
If you have heard this and it actually was detonation your pistons would be pretty damaged by now.....modern engines have knock sensors to detect this...
F-all is the answer to that.
IMHO induction kits are only worth fitting on turbo or heavily modified cars where the engines need for air exceeds the flow capacity of the standard airbox.
Don't bother with the inlet elbow either...looks nice but will make f-all difference peformance wise.
K-tec splitter is nice....just fitted one and I'd recommend it:D
I'm not a welder but can spot good an bad welds....TBH I thought the ones on my Janspeed weren't too bad.
s**t compared to my titanium mountainbike though;)
As far as noise goes I think you may notice a slight difference but it's not ear splitting bad.
