Good advice.....I'd do the same.
Have to be careful with dealers when they say you need parts because they are worn...hate to say it but they do assume some people know little so will take the pi**.
rear discs may need a clean but unlilkely to be worn out at 24k...they don't do much work.
I had to modify the OE bracket slightly but now it fits fine.
I have heard of fitting problems with this exhaust but TBH I've had fitting probles with most exhausts I've brought over the years anyway.
Have to agree really...if it's that important to 'beat' most stuff on the road just buya motorbike.
A modified R5, Clio etc may be quicker than a boggo evo but at the end of the day it isn't one...the Lancer has all the 4wd and ayc gubbins and a rally bred heritage.
Don't worry about it...this breed crop up everywhere.
There are some Ford boys around my area who think they are the dogs danglies and their cars are untouchable....especially one with an RST.
Great...I'd rather just punch the guy in the chops than argue about cars.
Much prefer a car for performance
I'm an old kunt now so can afford the insurance on something quick....really not into the garnish/veneer of bodykits etc.
Each to their own though
What's all this evo hating BS going on?
Still a quicker A - B all weather car on normal british roads for average joe to drive.
M3 much more refined though and actually has a decent interior lol..the evos has always been c**p
That's just down to driver.....I don't believe it's supercharged either...it's a 5 second 0-60 and 150mph plus car.
The only place where the M3 would theotically be quicker than the evo is 100 plus where the big displacement unit comes into it's own.
The Trophy is regarded as the best/most developed of the newer 172/182 derivatives so I can see why it there.
Completely understand that if there are 15 places to fill then some great cars and classics have to miss out....much be hard to choose a line up.
I wouldn't personally pay over a grand for insurance on a 172/182....it's a good car but not that good.
Up to you though....good luck if you go for it, I'm sure you'll enjoy the car:D
That's Bath Renault for you....they quoted me over £600 to do the cambelt next year:(
I'm in the same boat...172 needing servicing and still not sure where to take it in the Bath area.....was even thinking of the safest option and driving down to Rentech.
Have to agree...the ST is no performance benchmark.....it's just that everyone if making a fuss as it's been a while since Ford have produced a performance car with a turbo.
It's got nothing to do with heat in winter...it's to do with inlet lengths/tuning.
If your going to run a cone filter it is best to remove it to find the space for an airfeed but if the std box is retained the airfeeds are fine.
Just my opinion though....I just don't see any point in messing...
