I take it when you say a 6 your running a Lancer? A lot of people seem to be running Autronic ecu boards on the newer ones these days. I think you should enjoy a Clio Sport....not as quick as the 6 but a lot of fun:D

What about the other 'scams' such as bling wheels & bodykits?

Some of us (myself included) don't want to pay a grand or so in fines for a failed roadside emissions check, can't be ar**d to change it for MOTs and don't want the extra noise. Just a matter of preference

Spot on Sam....these high end ecus can also do data logging and control water injection units.

I got my 172 sports cat from Demon Tweeks for just under £300. The performance/driveability improvement is noticable along with a tad more noise:D

I couldn't agree more....driving around in espensive new cars doesn't mean s**t....you know most are on tick. My 172 may be four years old now but I brought it with my own money:D

I believe anti lag features are available on standalone ecus like the Motec and Gems systems.

They will have a torque setting Don't know what it is though....someone must have a manual somewhere

I've got a sports cat on my 172 and the light hasn't come on.....yet

Good modification....primarily what gives the 182 the extra grunt

I was just about to mention that you'd have to take the manifold off.....bit of a pain to do. You can buy 'jackets' from places like Demon Tweeks and Merlin that have the same function...just don't require wrapping/sealing and removal of the manifold.

Nice pics...brings back fond memories of my old Renault 19 16v. Definately better with the OE airbox on...I threw mine away and was gutted whan I found out how much torque I lost with the K&N cone I replaced it with.

Depreciation...f**k it, that's modern car ownership. I know I've probably lost a fair bit of money on my 172 but that's just the way it goes Think 172/182 prices should stabilize ast a certain price level...demand will increase as they become affordable.

Interiors in Subarus are c**p....my L reg was way, way worse than my 172 and as for the brand new 06 ones.....still as cheap and tacky as the old ones. I actually think the 172 is pretty well nailed together....I may have a 'good one' though.
