Mine did this too.....was blowing from the rear joint where the piping bends up over the torsion bar.
I just used two clamps and lots of paste.....seems to have done the trick
I had the same problem with my old 19 16v..even with a cold air feed the K&N cone I had sapped torque and made the car feel flat as fook.
TBH I would try and find an original airbox and drop a good filter in it.....you could always modify it to accept cold air ducting etc.
It hasn't changed either since I started driving 13 yrs ago...used to cost me the same.
What bugs me is peoples desperation to get in these sports cars regardless of cost...i.e they'll buy brand new on tick and pay 1000s of insurance.....you have to ask yourself is it worth it?...the monthly...
Sounds good
Just got the new evo and there is a good review of it in there...also in the motoring section of the Telegraph....they just complained about the engine noise lol
I'm in the same boat mate...got a 52 plate 172 with only 16000 on the clock.
Am going to get it serviced at 4yrs anyway as certain things like the coolant and brake fluid need doing regardless of mileage.
