Race exhaust, not this pussy shite from powerflow, i'm taking about a propoer grp N or grp A exhaust, de-cat, RELOCATED(this is the key word) ncie big open air filter, strip it.
Cams (£200), headwork (£500), lightened fly wheel etc etc, remap
Don't wqorry about colour coding crap lol, drop it...
Might be one of a few reasons, engine out, sump off, crank and pistons out, new piston rings.
While engine is out may as well so stuff like crank shaft oil seals, head gasket, watrer pump, cam belt etc
Make sure its bolted in f**king solid, last thign you want is a bettery flying about the car int eh event of a crash, when i crashed ym 1.2 it broke teh moutnign bracket in the bonnet, and put a massive dent in the bonnet
The passenger one goes up slowley on all reno's its a safety thing iirc.
As for lights dimming, esp on mk1 clios check teh earths, after ten years they tend to corrode slightly

Never heard of themn refered to as squeel plates before, if i'm on the right wave length they are just springs that stop the pad moving vertically....and just push them down and open teh springs up lol....just a big of force ;)
Jack on it and as the wheel lifts off the ground rotate teh arse end of the trolly jack away fromt eh stands towards the wheel.
Or jack on the flat section of the trailing arm, just by the piviot
Its a bit that welded inside the pipe to disrupt air flow, and hence quieten the exhaust.

To start you need a spark, fuel, and air.
Seeing as its turning over the starter motor is fine, i suggest you trace the ignition system back, spark plugs (well oily, forst port of call lol), HT leads, dizzy, rotar arm, king HT lead, coil pack.
If thats all ok turn attention to fuel disconnect...
Don't usually sit ont eh lip unless they are slightly bigger than the pads in before
The squeel plate stop brake squeel PMSL.....shoudl really have it in, just push teh caliper piston back in a bit more, lol
You need to bed new brake in or they will be s**t lol, esp with them sat on teh lip of...
