Im 19, got a 1.8 8v RSi, insurence is £2k fully comp, alot of it is because i already had a calim (even though iwas run off the road).
I;m a student at uni, and work when ever i can in the holidays/weekends etc.
Paid for the car myself, running it myself, insurence myself, ok i hada loan off...
Anohter thing you need to do especially at that price is look at teh kit before you buy it for fitment etc etc a price that cheap usually implies that the build quality os sh*te and the mounting points may well be out of place etc
I was in your posistion when i was 17/18 had just started driving, wanted a bodykit on my 1.2 clio then began chatting to the people on here and meeting up and going to meets and seeing other peoples cars and im now at the pioint where i want performance more then looks.

I knwo you run them at hgiher pressures, one the edges ofg the tyres go you ahve almost no grip, hence ncreasing the pressure to preserve the edges of the tyres
it was absoloutly gut wrenching when i went to collect the things out of my first written off car, had it over a year, written off by no fault of my own...the amount of money, and love etc that i put inot it
What you have to remember too is that when ppl have to stop in an emergency most people just slap their foot ont he brakes and lock up...i know ive done it...wherre as doing the brake tests you are thinking about it rather then relying on instinct....not a prob for those of you wiht ABS i know
