I've always used a boot rack with rubber coated hooks and neoprene (well some spongy stuff that feels like it) on the straps where they tough the body work. Not sure where it came from - my parents had it for ages then donateed it to me! Just make sure you wrap the pedals in cloth to stop them...

If it's still plugged into the mains I don't think it needs the battery. IIRC you have to take the battery out and disconnect it from the mains (which i don't know if he's done) :)

You can buy a fob off ebay for about £5-10 but you'll still need the key cutting. As with most things, i got my 2nd key and fob from Renault when i was in France and it was like €60 or something :) Renault in Calais might be worth a call next time you go over. In fact it may be the same price...

I don't think they do this anymore do they? In France, when you buy a top up, a code is generated and then printed on a receipt for you. I swear I've seen that here too.
