If it's an actual hid cluster then it would surely be ok wouldn't it? I thought they fail people because the dipped beam does not have a definite edge if you just fit hid's to normal clusters?
Halfrauds do it in about 10 minutes if you can go at the weekend, but you need to show your V5... Or "Colourful Carte Grise" as the lovely French border police called mine :)
Righty then...
After a lot of faffing about I've decided that I would like to purchase one of two types of wheel for my ickle clio, to replace the "slightly shagged before I bought the car" ones I currently have. And they still have Michelin Alpin 2's on...
Now I'm not too bothered about the...
Hmm not really... It's more the weight at the end of a radius that affects it.
It's kind of hard to explain without being super geeky, but yes the increased weight of the wheels will affect performance, although only marginally by means of increasing "overall weight" (you're probably only...
Wasn't going on overall diameter, just the diameter of the alloys themselves. I also wasn't talking about speed although i didn't expressly state it i guess... ;)
Meaning acceleration...
Presuming it's the same density metal, in the same style, then a 17" wheel will be harder to turn than a...
Isn't it slower because of the higher spin weight (rather than the negligible extra overall weight) that the larger wheels provide? It's to do with moments (and hence torque needed to turn the wheel). The basics of it being that the engine will have to work harder to spin a weight further out...
Pretty hard to start even with the corrct key sometimes! I thought you could only have 2 keys programmed to the car at any one time?
Must be truely gutting to know that some swine has robbed your car :(
Just a thought - if you sign up on http://www.hexus.net and get 25 posts (without spamming) in a week or two, you can get free delivery :)
(slap me if comeone's already said that)
Michelin Alpin 2's (winter tyres)
Still on my car from winter 05/06 and have a stupid amout of tread left after over 11k. Awesome in the snow / wet and damn good in the dry. Only bad point is the noise (especially in the summer ) - they sound like they are actually sticking to the road and...
Re: Fitting spings...
Is it best to track them at the same time or let them settle a bit first? Most of the places I phoned insisted on tracking it there and then for some reason.

I've helped a mate do his at home and that only took about an hour and a half but I'm currently not in a position to do the springs on my own as I don't have an axle stands / nice jacks / socket sets at uni! Was just...
Re: Fitting spings...
I can't edit the above :S
Anyhoo feel free to ignore this once more as i finally found the thread i was after (only took 2 and a bit hours! eek)
Been getting quotes to fit some -40mm springs on my clio this afternoon. Yes they are Apex (feel free to rip me!) but they cost me naff all. The couple of garages that I found around Leicester are charging £150 for apparently 3 hours work?
Now as I understood from another thread it should only...
When I'm not at uni I live in the countryside, (ooohaaaarrr) right out in the sticks, and i can tell you how useful it is to have HID (or Xenon or whatever the proper name is) lights on the Discovery! It makes driving at night indefinately easier. Maybe you won't see much difference when there...
