Rob, i dont know about the plastic cover. I went to halfords, found heat resistant red paint for engines and used a smallish brush to apply it. gave it two coats, no primer, just a rub down first. I have steady hands (its the rest of me that shakes like a bastardo) and it looks ok. No matter how...
if the fog light surrounds were black, and the bit between the fog lights and lower front grill was black, it would look like it has a massive lower grill, making it look wider still and that would be cool.

admits; yes it is better to be in four/five star car, BUT, theres a misconception that a four/five star supermini therefore offers the same protection as four/five star saloon (the way the ratings are simplistically done encourages this comparison/conclusion).
In other words - iif the two were...
re: Megane v Scorpio, metalurgy (sp) and creation of stronger metals has improved hugely over the last ten years apparently. Makes a big difference to cars safety.

Tom, does the barrier simualte every type of car? If so, how?
I thought that the barrier is consistent all the time and so only relative to the car hitting it i.e. the clio crash only shows what a clio would look like after hitting another clio-like/size/weight car, not a clio hitting a lexus...
I dont think it would. The deformation would be equal on both; and the deformation would be considerable to both (thats what that NCAP test replicates, which is why the first part of the barrier is deformable, and the second bit harder).
g
you are the most substantial thing in a TVR.
of course, safety is relative as Robs Golf example shows. A MK4 Golf hitting and S-Class would be quite messy for the Golf folk, I should think.
g
i guess it depends on the bit its attached to is. I assume an eye hook is attached to a load bearing member, and the position of that dictates the position of the eye hook?
g
drat. I forgot about the MOT thing. I was planning not to not to bother replacing them for all the hassle involved. So long as you wash your lights when your driving, they still get a clean - wash them when youre stationary, and the car/people in front get a clean.

Tom - this is what it says in the manual*: "The Clio comes with R.A.I.D which automatically locks the doors at 6mph."
*Blatant lie - thats what it says in the brochure.
g
They do - its in the Clio accessories brochure (next to the: "Additional/optional rattles you may wish to add to complete your journey in true Renault style" section).
g
IT SAYS 6MPH IN THE BROCHURE - SO THERE! :))
ah, ok, i thought they locked and unlocked at 6mph (thats right SIX MILES PER HOUR NOT FIVE, OR SEVEN, BUT SIX) like a black cab. Now that makes sense and the stupidity of my question is apparent to me.
I thank you :))
g
OK, so in the Clio brochure, it says the Clio comes with R.A.I.D which automatically locks the doors at 6mph. Is this under or over 6mph? Isnt it better if the doors lock at under 6mph? I know carjackers move fast, but I cant see one legging it alongside you at 40mph for long.
Anyone know?
