my mate recently bought a used, 41k, alfa 156 V6 2.5 SP3 for £6.9k, with leather air con etc etc. Its a honey to drive, and an alternative to the others listed.

I do. Now that mine has it, I think it overlays a nice fizz to the deep note you get from the exhaust, especially when the revs drop. How does it sound from the outside?

at what rpm does the thing cut in?
why not take off with average revs, then when the clutch is fully engaged, then accelerate hard? Or does the same thing happen when you try this method, too?
(I have no traction control, but i do have a one touch passenger window which is more useful...

has any special edition based on a mass market car ever had stronger residuals than the one its based on (I guess yes, in the case of the williams). Any others?
