ok, so Im getting both -0 and just 0 without the -. It reads -0 after it has read -1. Oh, and I got -3 yesterday (coldest so far was in my Golf last year which read -8!)
I do find it useful - flashing away at 3deg reminds you to be cautious of ice (im sure you are anyway!)

I think the Gordini Turbo was a 1.4cc (a 1397cc from memory). It was sort of replaced for a little while by the Le Car Turbo which had the colour coded bits but lost the alloys and other nice bits of kit. The Le Car Turbo just looked like a normal 5 - the Gordini didnt. Then the Le Car was...
Abbs, sorry to be picky, but Im interested to know which of your two statements you currently believe in:
"I just know and hear that the build quality is poor"
or, maybe you prefer:
"...probably well built"

ah, thats useful, thank you Dave. (not too far removed from - dare I say it - Alfa; Anonima Lombarda Fabrica Automoila. Which loosely translated is The Lombardy Car Making Company).

abbs, the 16,000k figure I have seen many times references to Alfas racing past, and I have no reason not to believe it. The levels I will check because I dont know them to be honest.
I dont mind if you dont like Alfas, but one thing is to say you dont like them, and the other is to dismiss...
ahhh, I meant it as a compliment guys. The 5 series is a nice car to drive; theres nothing wrong with the car, just the way that sometimes they are driven. :D

please, please, some respect. An Alfa Romeo is not Italian rubbish, any more than a Clio is French rubbish. While its slightly irrelevant now, bear in mind that Alfa Romeo has more race victories than any other car manufacturer (over 16,000). No one else even comes close. And remember, had Alfa...
think about it....
Clios and 5-series share:
- the LHD wiper set up
- the biggest wiper arms ever seen on a production car
- a warm glow from the red dash lighting at night
- bright Xenon lights
- the same slightly funny steering (540i I mean here, not the smaller engined 5 series)...

ok, this might be a dumb-ass question but here goes: why is renault sometimes referred to as le regie (i think) by the motoring press? I dont understand or know the reference. Has anything to do with state ownership, or one of the founders or something?
cheers,

i dont think the red one is a Gordini Turbo - it has the mirrors from the normally aspirated Alpine, not the square ones from the Gordini. I may be wrong of course. Plus the turbo badge is missing and the wheel rim looks Alpine, not Gordy.

no no JonL, thats not a Gordini T; thats either the R5 T1 or the R5 T2; both are mid-engined. The film was Never say never again from 83 or 84. The R5Gordini T was a front engine/front drive rocket-ship. The R5T1 was its big daddy, like the Clio V6 is a 172s big daddy today. R5 Gordini T came...
