    Track car Attempt 2

Not sure about next year yet. Usually go over Easter weekend, which is great, but would like to do the 24hr race at some point, and the Eifel Rally Festival, so might do one of those instead of the usual TF trip.

That R5 is lovely. Nice mix of cars really. I'll ruin the next one with my old Ford lol

    Track car Attempt 2

Looks a good trip. I do like that hotel. We rented a house this year and it wasn't as good to be honest, as we were out in the country. I went out with Dale in the F-Type. He is a good bloke and can really pedal round there!

Disappointed I couldn't make it, would like to have seen that. Itching to drive one.

    The Nth Degree Experience

A ride in WRC car? I think I hate you! Sounds a really great day. The i30 N is really appealing I must say. Would really like to try one.

Excellent job, definitely worth following! Are you keeping it all standard?

    Rally day 2018

Yeah. It's just not very good at promoting itself sadly. At WRC level, the promoter really do need to step up their game. At a UK level, we seem to be hiding. I think we need to move with the times a bit, as a worrying number still seem to be stuck in the 70s or 80s still. There's not enough...

    Dusted Off & Driven

It would handle better if you removed the wind defectors. Looks lovely. Love the Brembos.

What spec is the Mini? I had a Cooper has a hire car a few months ago and it was alright to be honest. Not quick, but still good laugh. Seemed to have mountains of grip.

    Question for the Rally guys!

I've been trying to get some of my friends to give it a go, as I'd rather have a mate in the car for my first couple, just have a bit of a laugh while we learn the ropes. The cost of the required gear puts most of them off now though.

    Rally day 2018

I think precisely the opposite is true to be honest. Rallying is far too good at hiding in its heartlands. So many seem to want to stay hidden away in Wales, Scotland and the north of England. One of the good things about this event is that its further south. If anything, it needs to go further...

    Rally day 2018

As a total rally nut, I am ashamed to say that I have never been to this. Keep telling myself I will, but something always comes out. Will do my best to go this year though!

Sorry to see this. Awful when this kind of thing happens, and you always seem to lose out in the end, even if it isn't your fault.

Certainly sounds like a dramatic start to your racing career! Good you're taking it all in your stride though.

    New Track Saxo

Sounds like it will go pretty well and provide lots of laughs in that spec.

    New Track Saxo

Cage looks nice from the picture, gusseted in which is good. What's the spec?

    Exige Toyota supercharged by Essex

I adore the S1 Exige, such a lovely car.
  21. massiveCoRbyn

    Half cage options

I can see what they're getting at, but not sold on it personally. Fair bit of unnecessary weight and not convinced with how some of the fixing points will be loaded. I can certainly see the appeal, as it's a totally bolt-in solution, but I think I would sooner just weld some plates in and do it...

    Half cage options

Any pics? Sorry @Danith, not meaning to hijack.
  23. massiveCoRbyn

    Half cage options

Those don't appeal to me very much. Do you just end up with the bases of the main hoop being supported by a single bolt where the lower seat belt anchorage would be?

I didn't actually think it was a McLaren, but can't remember what it was lol
  25. massiveCoRbyn

    Half cage options

There will 100% be something. If there was no reinforcement, the feet of the cage would just punch through the floor pan in the event of a rollover. Personally, I would probably go for something with weld-in feet, as a piece of 3mm plate welded into the car makes for a nice secure mounting...

    ilya's 172 #BECAUSE_RACE_CAR

I certainly wouldn't argue against the effectiveness of the naca ducts, but I do wonder if the length/shape of the tubing might reduce the amount of air you feel in the cabin. Only time will tell though. It will be interesting to see how they work in reality. I'm sure I've seen some GT cars that...
  27. massiveCoRbyn

    Half cage options

The SW option must have some reinforcement plates of some kind? Do they go under the floor on the outside and it bolts through them?

    ilya's 172 #BECAUSE_RACE_CAR

There are more subtle options out there. You could go for one like this (which looks very much like the Ford Group A one for the Escort): Or always go for a flap, as on the Impreza: The Group A Clio 16v/Williams/Maxi had something similar. I have seen replicas for sale online somewhere...

Absolutely with you on ED. They serviced my Megane and found them really helpful. Would definitely use them again.

    I’m back............!!!!

It does look lovely. As others have said, ktec aren't cheap, but they do seem to only deal in nice examples with good spec. Having had a lot of trouble when buying my Meg from a garage who knew nothing about them, I would certainly consider buying from someone like that in the future. Sometimes...
