Not a massive difference. I've not driven a 172cup, but the 182's don't feel that different to the 172's. The only one that feels vastly different is the Trophy.

Not done the switch, but I'd go for a pre-evo m3. Less likely to have vanos issues, and they normally make close to book power, the evo's are usually under book.

Only the ph1 has different gear ratios. There's no difference in pace between the ph2 172 and the 182. Power delivery is slightly different, end result is the same.

Driving position is 10mm lower than standard. These are not worth the cash if you buy them just to lower the driving position, as they hardly do. Bought as a high quality seat, they are worth it.

I know the ph1 has different gearing, wasn't sure on the cups. That doesn't make much of a difference (the gearing) it's the weight that makes the biggest difference.

Yep. The Xsara's are pretty uninspiring compared to the 306, the Wiliams should be well ahead. Only thing the Xsara's are good for is donating engine's to snapped rallye's;)
