This was my first phone, when i was 12 (6 years ago). Times move on fast! Carphone warehouse usually have good deals, and phones4u. Best of going in and seeing them and they will be able to advise on the most suited phone.

Get a decent video card for graphics/video editing. Can't see the onboard doing too well, especially if he is doing gopro hd editing (is he?). ​Would also consider better cooling for the processor

Aren't the ssd's and ram soldered to the mobo in these? Anyway go for retina as it has the ssd. Pointless getting the i7 due to heat limitations so you won't notice a performance upgrade over the i5 anyway!

Faulty. I had a friend that had a 5/4s (can't remember) which was brand new and had the exact same problem. They swapped it no hassle :)

We have to NAS at work, with a two fiber connections between (10.4 network and 169.254 for vmware traffic) and it works brilliantly. I recommend a QNAP nas from personal experience.

The whole of that reply has nothing to do with your original statement. When you buy a laptop you don't buy the OS on top (albeit it's included in the price by the manufacturer but the end user does not see this! We have some 6 year old pc's at work that would leave current laptops and pc's...
