Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
glad its on the mend...
not looking forward to the teething problems if / when mine is back on the road/track
great write up jay, and great result chaps,
massive congratulations.
Good to hear you and the car made it too the end, a great weekend by the sounds of it,
would be good to catch up with you both again soon.
hey mate,
coming along very very nicely, genuinely so jealous of your fabrication, especially after trying to give it a go myself, Some truly unique ideas and parts going on/ being fabricated. The switch panel is beautiful and the strut tops a work of art. Can i ask what your thoughts are with...

hey james,
shame to hear about the woes,
but don't get down, about it, especially after coming into my thread telling me to keep my head up.....lol. These minor (although it may not seem it at present) things...
thats a very nice compliment,
i was very happy with the car at that point, but it didn't stay like that for long, little bits needed doing and when another car came along it seemed natural for it....
must be a mass exodus of the area then...lol
i have literally moved today and am now in Milton Keynes,
i feel your pain with working on the car, the same problem i am having/about to have... hope all goes well mate
thanks for the various comments, opinions people,
have been having a good think about it over the weekend, although i have a lot on....
when talking to other people about it i think it is quite apparent to myself that i don't want to give in and break it, i think i just need to work out how to...
I am oretty sure Daniel advised to keep it empty? but as said when posting the pictures i need to metal-weld the open unions to seal thee system anyways, It does look loads better yeah, quite happy with it,as for the ABS i have not thought about that, go on......
pretty sure it was 50mm mate...
i had noticed the thing on the wheel, but didn't know what it was,
this saturday - now i am only 15 mins away that would of been perfect, but i am oretty sure i have to be back at home now on weekends (even more so this first one coming up), good luck chaps.
if you mean at the very start (back 2 years ago), it was because i had a crack in the airbox, this was removed and sent for some work, at this point i had the chance to buy another car to get around in meaning the clio would be a second car, and that was when i chose to go this route with it. I...
you definitely speak alot of sense james, but as of yet you owe me nothing...lol
I have been thinking of other approaches to the shell, ie wrapping it etc, can i ask how much your wrap set you back? (pm if you like),
i have put a feeler out to a friend of a friend who is just about to set-up by...
the other thing is once you have taken it this far you kind of want to do everything right, i 100% understand that something looking good won't help with your car control or speeds etc but whats wrong with having both.... (but its not about that at this current point).
tbf this year is a write off anyways for potential track days, what with canada and then moving house etc
i don't really think there is too much left to do on my side of things,
its bodywork (which i can't do),
then once thats sorted and the engines sorted - re-assembly
and then off to matt...
with regards to the paint, thats my thoughts,
i think i would need to sort the rust, and possibly the different coloured sill....
if i was to sell up and buy something else, i am unsure if it would be another clio, unless it was an ex cup racer or something, i don't think there are many other...
tbh i think your probably both wrong, i am just trying to figure out what is sensible....
i know 100% i would want something else to mess around in if i decided to break this, what else could i get for say £5k (half of what i think i could make if i broke it)
i couldn't live with just the DCi...
i visited the car today with a very small list of "to do jobs"
- strip the steering rack down, bend and flare the pipes and bung the other holes
- check fitment of my new air intakes in the foglight holes
- drill more holes on the interior
- chat over the project with my painter/sprayer friend...
