Well, it took me about 30-40 mins doing it at a gentle pace. Just don't leave the heat in one place for too long. For a scraper I used an old window ice scraper. The idea being the plastic would be more gentle than using a metal scraper.

Get a heat gun for the tar (cheap one from screw fix). Makes it 10x easier. The. A good degreaser to remove the remaining glue.
