cracking engines, the reason they weren't very popular is because people that wanted performance went for the 2.0 16v, people that wanted cheap running costs went 1.2 16v or 1.5 DCi so you had the 1.6 in the middle that wasn't very fast and wasn't very cheap to run!
for the money you pay for...
im quite content with the trophy and a couple of DCI's (got a mk2 and a mk4), just took a deposit on the cup got a feeling its going to fall through though.
will get a laguna GT when my dci dies, if it ever does.
id rather convert a car than buy a van for a couple of reasons.
1. you get cheaper road tax, the cars are £20/£30 a year compaired to the vans which I believe are well over £100
2. you get the choice of the 80 or 100bhp engines where the vans are all 65 (think the later ones might have been 70)...
cool, what about how it drives, spool up a bit quicker?, granted mines is an 03 on 150k, 11yrs older than our mk4, but I find the mk4 spools really quickly, id like a little more response under 2k, not that it needs it just something I think it would benefit from
Tow it is the only way to be worry free, if ur not towing it just drive it normally and dont worry about it, it it happens it happens, you would be very, very unlucky if it happened again to you!!
update:
MOT ran out a month ago, it sat in the drive and I used the cup every day since its been pretty dry. Booked an MOT and thought ill just scrap it if it fails badly, local place is known for being pretty strict with MOT's got a phone call that afternoon to say it was ready to collect, not...
tyres are imo the most important thing for these (or any for that matter) cars.
my favourite setup ive ran for the road (excluding the trophy obviously!) was a ph2 172, Michelin PS3's refreshed front end, 172 cup dampers and eibach sportlines (the cooksports get a really good name but ive yet to...
there is a slot under the speaker grill on the door, just stick a screw driver in and leaver it off, this gives you access to the speakers, 2 (I think they are T20) torx screws hold the speaker in.
wish my DCi80 was that tidy inside!! my trophy is *nearly* that clean lol!!
good work, hows the shift with the short shifter? do you run the 4th RS engine mount? ive got loads of play in my engine mounts even with 3 new genuine replacements
we started cliodci.net which later became renaultdci.net after DCI office vanished overnight, it was busy to begin with then everyone moved on, no new members joined and now its dead, still a lot of good knowledge on it, just no new stuff being added!
i own both and to be honest have considered selling the trophy and keeping the cup as i dont mind using the cup properly, i hate putting miles on the trophy or risking a stone chip on it!
it was a custom map with different injectors that only RS Tuning have managed to perfect.
I get where your coming from though, must be an easier way that the ECU can be re written but not read from!
try and find a dci 106 and you get the nice 6 speed box and they go really well. Pay a bit more in road tax right enough sure its £105 vs the £30 of the 68/86 and sure the 88 is tax exempt
sounds about right my mates EP3 used to be a god bit quicker than my 200, but my standard cup is bang on with it, nothing in it, quicker than my trophy :rage:
mayo on the underside of the filler cap is normal on them due to condensation in the plastic rocker cover, as generally is water in the coolant as people don't change the waterpump when they do the belt and it leaks loosing coolant, of course this can lead to them overheating and blowing the...
