Yes I think its an issue with the wood.... lol. There's nearly 24inches of it between the Deco and the Ring. With the old set up (Deco in the house, about 15m away) the Ring was getting RSSI-72. Now with the Deco on the Pillar its RSSI -62. Which has stopped the ring complaining about it.
