    If you can't afford a new one right now, request it to be refitted then take it to a local garage and get them to cut open the cat and remove the internals.

    I think my record is 1.20 to have the engine out from driving in. I know I can do a complete change on a cup within 6hours. Had a quick look at it today, the alt does have 12v at the exciter, so it's a new regulator needed :(

    I do indeed. I think I have solved the issue of understeer you were having too, When I drove a cup with the same setup I found it wanted to push wide. I'm running a massive amount of toe out now, and really cannot get it to wash out.
