    It just injects raw fuel into the cylinder(or on the escort cossie rally cars, the manifold) the hot exhaust ignites the fuel in the turbo thus keeping it spinning.

    Water doesnt always get in the oil when a headgasket fails. hence yours looking good as its gone betweenthe cylinder and the water jacket.

    I lower mk1's for £100 if you supply the springs, that includes reseting the torsion bar.

    the pump does take a fair bit of voltage. but also the ignition coil etc are then live.
