Yes it was done on a 172. Depends, its on the right side of the engine bay, but on the left as you look at the engine from the front. And no the rear mount isnt the wishbone mount.

check compression, this will show if theres any damage

Does the starter have the heatshield on it? if not this is the problem.

well the log manifold idea is crap, the way they bodge the oil feed and return, again is crap, and for the moeny you not realy getting much of a gain.

When you say you've run it on the dyno, does that mean you havent run it in?

Decent ones allow dampen rate adjustment etc, whereas cheap ones only offer height.
