Looks nice. I still miss my mk4 TDI, it was only 90ps but it was ultra reliable and comfortable, the armrest was great on long journeys I still miss that, but not the weighty handling or under powered engine.

Sounds like you've got your wife a MK2 phase 1 with the roundish head lights, and you've got a body kit off a MK2 phase 2 with the diamond(ish) headlights, if that's correct, the front end wont fit but the rest should. Just for reference, this is a MK 3.
