yeah it could do with a bit more, the long term plan is to 16v it but for now hes happy with it. was a bit skitish for liftoff oversteer but now its extremely grippy, id go as far as saying it has more grip than the ek9!!
exactly the weight kills it, hence why the twingo with "only" 130bhp is a riot. people laugh when i say how genuinely quick my dci 100 is but the twingo is a perfect example. my car weighs 980kg with around 125-130bhp so just under the twingo yet 190lb/ft of torque!
yes and im lucky i lived to be fair! they were ok in the dry but dangerous in the wet, i cant stress how bad they were, my dci 65 with cheap £15 a corner tyres had more grip in the wet.
yep thats the one, still in the same spec really apart from new bilstein dampers all round as the old ones were getting a bit tired and a set of Advan A048 tyres, you would not beleive the grip it has with them on it lol
valve stem oil seals are gone on it too so hes got a full gasket and seal...
being honest all petrol mk2 clios are completely shite on fuel, infact the 172 is the only one that is surprizingly good, i took my 172 to work the other day a 30 mile drive of part motorway, part b roads and wasnt driving hard yet wasnt really holding back and averaged 38mpg!
my 100 however...
its my mates engines for sale as is everything else, shell being scrapped.
dont beleive how much all the parts go for, engine, box, ecu and wiring goes for about £2500 lol
body roll isnt a bad thing though as long as its controlled, my standard 100 used to have quite a bit of body roll but it was controlled and still had plenty grip.
people seem to think that because a car has bodyroll it doesnt handle.
i seriously doubt that, ive never driven a GT but im assuming its a bit better than Dyn S models, i had a shot of a 1.6 16v Dyn S and it handled brilliant for a standard car, it was more planted than a standard 172!
phase 1 172 would be my choice, much rawer than the ph2 cars i love mine same weight as the cup or their abouts, still get the luxury of half leather and air con, smaller 15" wheels make it handle better and make it more fun and chuckable, plus tyres are cheaper to go! plus £2500 buys you a...
