it takes ages for the diesel to get from the tank down thru the lines and injection system into the engine so i doubt you would have noticed a difference almost straight away...
its got electric mirrors which i think were only available on the VTS BUT the 1.4 VTR imports had them too.

and as for the original poster, nothing you can do other than rebuild the gearbox or replace it. it will just get worse no point wasting money on different oil etc
why not its a modern car if it wasnt on its original gearbox after 170k genuine miles id be questioning why not ;)
my last diesel clio was on 160k or there abouts and was fine :) similar gearbox
i know i wish they done a dci in ph2, im not keen on the ph3 front end doesnt look as mean but im anal and wouldnt be keen on a ph3 car on ph2 wheels even tho no one would notice lol

yeah its a great car not many...
the tube is just a breather.
there is a small screw plug on the front of the gearbox behind the radiator, thats your filler and your level, you fill it till it starts to drip out.
plug for draining is on the bottom of the box, same as an oil sump plug but on the gearbox. same tool to remove.
