personally i got the car the way i wanted it then realised there wasnt much else i could do to improve it without spending thousands more, so got bored and sold on.

its possible without removing the driveshaft ive done it but it is easyer, being honest if your interested in decating it id take it to a custom place and get a decat pipe made up for it, since it doesnt need changed over at mot time anyway its a case of have one fitted and forget about it.

your more likely to notice the extra weight than extra power.

they are a c**t to change. using a smashed out cat is nowhere near as good as using a proper decat on these engines due to the size of them, i remember some people having the car running worse with one.

looking at prices i could sell mine for more than i paid for it 6 months ago and 10k miles later!! they hold their money but awesome MPG, £35 a year road tax, cheap to insure, good fun to drive, you cant really get much better they do lack the off boost torque of the VAG 1.9 diesels etc but...

ive never driven an 80 but as you know ive got a 100 and my mrs has a 1.6 16v dynamique ragging about flat out redlining everywhere the 1.6 16v is faster (just) untill about 70/80mph the dci100 has so much overtaking torque for such a small car, diesels are never quick at accelerating but...
